Ladybug Motion 2D is a physics simulation model in 2D. It deals with acceleration and velocity. It is similar to the other simulation of motion in 2D by University of Colorado, but in this case, there is a ladybug that we use to calculate movement and speed.

The purpose of this simulation is to illustrate how velocity and acceleration affect movements in 2D. To do just that, you simply drag the ladybug around the screen. A few arrows will show the velocity and acceleration of every movement in real time. The motions are also recorded, so you can later play it back to analyze what happened. You can choose to see only the acceleration or the velocity, both of them or none. The motions leave traces behind which become transparent after a motion was done. You can choose to use a solid line or dots for that.

Unlike Motion in 2D, the other motion simulation that I mentioned, this one allows you to record the motions and to set a playback speed. You can't really save your recordings, but it is much easier to analyze a motion when you don't have to be dragging and dropping the ladybug around.
  • Very illustrative.
  • No installation required.
  • None.
